Happy Long Weekend! 04/08/2012
It's been fabulously sunny this LONG weekend, and we've spent it together being lazy and it's awesome. Here is our East long Weekend wrapped up in pictures. Hoppy Easter!! ;) That's our new Kijiji canoe in the background!! Notice it has a few patches to be repaired, but we are sooo excited to take Barley out on the water this summer. We were sitting in it in the backyard and Bar hopped right in and plopped down - he was ready for a ride!! Last summer we took him camping with us, and he was completely in his element. Happy Easter, guys!! Enjoy!! 12 Comments Who Done It? 03/29/2012
I came home the other day, entered my room and found a bloody comforter and pillow... I lifted them up, and what do I find? The rawhide bone I had given Barley earlier that day............... I've noticed before that he really uses his nose to push things around or off of his bed if they are annoying him. He rubbed his nose so many times and so hard on the bed trying to cover this thing up, it got all raw and bloody. Yuck!! He's never been a digger, so it's never been a problem to leave him with a rawhide or bone or toy. He always just sleeps the day away anyways. But I guess this particular one was special to him, and he really wanted to hide it for later. When I pointed at it and looked at him to say "what's this?" he was already in his bed with his head down. Silly boy!!! St. Pawtricks Day 03/17/2012

This Weekend: Sun, Friends and Muddy Paws 03/14/2012
Happy Wednesday, bloggy friends! It's supposed to be Wordless Wednesday, but I have some words AND pictures, so it will be "Not-So-Wordless Wednesday". This weekend was fabulously sunny and warm here in Ottawa, and Barley couldn't be happier.... and neither can I. Barley is a HORRIBLE leash walker in the snow. It's weird (I guess snow retains smell...), but as soon as he is walking on pavement again, he heals perfectly by my side, no pulling, no stopping to smell the pee trails. It's wonderful. We went for hour long leash walks on Saturday and Sunday, and then Barley got to play with his girlfriend Bailey. These two absolutely love each other. She's a dainty little girl who's shy and quiet, but when it comes to playing with Barley? That all goes out the window! She twirls, jumps, squeeks and has a great Bitey Face. When those two get going, the fun just doesn't stop! Here are a few pictures of the two (sorry, cell phone quality pictures!) Then the next day, Bar and I went for another long walk, and still being tired from the previous day's playdate, he started to fall asleep with a toy in his mouth and it made me laugh. Nice teeth bar! Barley's Superman Pose 03/06/2012
Oh my gosh you guys!! I have been such a bad blogger - it's been three weeks! THREE WEEKS! that's crazy because it doesn't feel like three weeks to me at all. I've been uber-busy with work, but have a chance now to sit and relax for a while! So here I go with an update: Barley's cut is healing wonderfully! See? Almost non-noticeable! Want to know how to get a dog to stop licking something? Men's deodorant. Yep, that's right... deodorant. We looked online to see if there was anything we could put on for the first few days that Barley would be alone without his cone, just in case he felt like ripping out his stitches (seems like a Barley thing to do) and we saw in a forum that someone had said "men's deodorant" but didn't elaborate...... So, we decided that might work and put Sean's deodorant to Barley's nose...... BRILLIANT! Barley hated the smell. So we put a little bit AROUND the wound (not a good idea to put the deodorant directly on the cut...) and he never even tried to look at the cut again. Fabulous. Today I bought Barley a new rope toy to keep him happy and occupied. He loves it and it looks hilarious hanging out of his mouth. Here are his first few minutes with it (obviously, it's torn to bits now) And that's wha has been happening in the life of Barley these past few weeks! He's just so exciting. Ok, I promise it won't be three weeks before I update again! Oh, and on April 1st, Pawsh Magazine, Barley and I have a little surprise for you! Stay tuned! Kali: A Transformation 02/17/2012
This is a post about a little scruffy girl that I had the pleasure of taking care of a lot when she was a pup and when I was a living in Toronto. Barley has never met this scruff monster since she lives in Toronto with her awesome mama, Kaela... but one day! Kali is now 3 years old and looks completely different from when she was a puppy. Let's start with the pictures of Kali and I as bachelorettes in Toronto: SCRUFF MONSTER!! (in the best of ways!)Isn't she hilarious! I had to share all of these awesome pictures and Kali's transformation on this sunny Friday!! Be Loved Pet Project 02/13/2012
Barley, S and I are featured in this amazingly cute and wonderful video for the Be-Loved pet project (Launching SOON, please keep an eye on it!). It is done by Liz Bradley, an awesome photographer and dog lover. Please share this beautiful video, and keep spreading the words "adopt, don't shop" "Every year millions of unwanted pets are surrendered to rescues all over the world. Consider adoption next time you decide to welcome a pet into your home. All they want is to BE LOVED. Bar is doing amazingly well! I'm happy to say that he's back to his old self! His stitches are slowly disintegrating and his wound is fully healed! So happy for the little man. He even got to play Bitey Face with Bailey of RasZoBai. So, what have we been up to lately? Well, as Barley has been healing we have been doing lots of cuddling because a) We're best buds and b) we need to keep each other warm because S and I like to save our pennies and don't crank the heat as much as I would love! But Barleys make great personal heaters. We've also been keeping up with our daily training routine, like 'Leave It', which Barley demonstrates oh-so-well here: Nom nom nom nom nom!! There have also been lots of 'paws' There has also been plenty of Hammer (Ruff Dawg Tools Hammer from Wag Pet Shop! It's really tough and great for Bar because he's a crazyyyy destroyer of toys!!) chewing and tugging! Things we Can Learn from Dogs 01/31/2012
